Victoria’s Quinceañera
My daughter Sylvia went to California Young World 4-month after birth and Veronica was one of her favorite teachers there. Last year, after Sylvia has transferred, Veronica called and asked us to shoot her daughter Victoria’s Quinceanera in June 2008. “Definitely!” we replied. It is time to express our appreciation “professionally” for her care for Sylvia.
Quinceañera is a Spanish wedding-like ritual to celebrate a young lady’s 15th birthday. We have shot many weddings, but this is our very first Quinceañera to even attend, not mentioning to shoot. Yong borrowed a DVD of a Quinceañera and read diligently online about it until the last minute. The event, as it turned out, was quite relaxing. The young ladies (“bridesmaids”) were energetic, creative, and eager to express themselves in front of the camera. They came up with all different ideas, and kept asking Yong to photograph them. What a fun group of teenagers to work with!
Victoria’s parents, like us, are hard working common people who have to raise a family in a most expensive area of the world. Yet like all parents in the world, they strive to give their children the very best they can possibly afford. From the dress, limo, venues, band, Yong and I witnessed how much they put their heart into the celebration and how much they love and are proud of their daughter(s).
Victoria, as you step into adulthood, we wish a wonderful life! Hats off to Veronica, the family, and all parents in the world! We live in a beautiful world because of YOU.
