Lynn and Matt’s Wedding at The Ranch Golf Club

We introduced Kimberly in our previous blog.  She has been assisting Yong for weddings since my pregnancy.  Two weeks ago, she attended Lynn and Matt’s wedding with Yong and she sent us a few paragraphs she wrote about this wedding, which we feel has a quite fresh perspective.  We would like to share her writing here.  By the way, Kimberly is starting college this year with English major and she is hoping to have photography as her minor.  Keep up the good work Kimberly!

“So about a week ago, I had the wonderful opportunity of assisting Yong for a whole day at Matt and Lynn’s wedding. : ) We went over all the details a couple times before the big day, and everything worked out nicely as planned.

Before the wedding, I was amazed to see how intricate the schedule was planned out and on the day of the wedding, amazed again at how traditional yet innovative the whole day was. It was certainly a new experience for me. From helping Lynn take duplicate photos from her mother’s own wedding, to watching the veil ceremony at the Catholic Church, to the dove release outside the beautiful golf club, I was able to see how different and unique Matt and Lynn’s wedding was.  That day, I really enjoyed helping Yong produce artistic and memorable snapshots for them. But again, it especially made me feel warm and happy inside to know that I took part in witnessing the union of two people who genuinely loved each other.

During the reception, I was told by one of the groomsmen about how Matt and Lynn met and the story seemed quite unbelievable to me- The two of them had first met when Lynn was a hostess at Chevy’s. After their first acquaintance, apparently, Matt went back to Chevy’s and asked Lynn out and then they started dating for about eight/nine years, all the way until their marriage! Now that is an incredibly long time…Which leads me to remember their table seating arrangements. To help their guests find their seats, they named each table a state or city they had been to. Each table the guests were to be seated at had a picture of Matt and Lynn at that specific location and it was clear to see that they had been to so many different places together! (Including Wyoming!) And now, they should be relaxing together on their honeymoon.

Well, I hope they continue to enjoy their time together as newlyweds:

Congratulations, Matt and Lynn!

-Kimberly”

Behind the scene – Sandra and Michael’s Wedding at Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery

We were back at Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery again this past weekend for Sandra and Michael’s wedding.  As some of you have known, I am four and half months pregnant with our second child, and Kimberly is taking over photographer assistant role for Yong.  We have been to Casa Real many times.  We know it is a very accommodating venue and I can make myself very comfortable.  So I tagged along Yong and Kimberly in a passive supporting role.

I have been to many weddings with Yong, but always at the front line of events.  This past weekend, I had the privilege to stay behind the closed door and witnessed a very precious moment between Sandra and his father.

Around 4:15pm, from the bridal room, we could hear the music as the ceremony started.  Bridesmaids were called out by the event coordinator to the ceremony.  Sandra had a brief moment to herself as I rested in the couch.   The door opened, Mr. Sueoka, Sandra’s father walked in.

“How are you doing, Dad?  Are you going to cry?”, Sandra asked.

“That’s why I come in here”  Mr. Sueoka replied.

He took a seat right next by Sandra.  They looked at each other with tears in their eyes.  Sandra put her hand gently on his.  To me, it was over twenty years of love between a daughter and father condensed in a few words, and a gentle touch.  Seconds later, they were called out of the room.

We have many thanks to give for this wedding.  Sandra and Mike, thanks for having us as part of your big day.  Sandra, Cathy, Nancy, Ai-lan, thanks for generously accommodating me in the bridal room, and constantly offering me food :) .  Last and not least, Kimberly, thanks for being a great photographer assistant.  You did a great job!
